Afloat fuel system repair on board a vessel at Dammam anchorage

Main Engine Fuel Pump Failure — Fixed Alongside

A workboat reported heavy smoking and loss of power on one of two main engines. Our afloat team mobilized to the anchorage, pressure-tested the fuel system and found two injection pump elements worn beyond limit and three injectors with distorted spray patterns.

ResultPumps and injectors overhauled and calibrated on the test bench, reinstalled and timed alongside. Engine back to full power within 5 days.

Turbocharger overhaul for a standby diesel generator

Standby Generator Turbocharger Overhaul

Routine inspection of a standby diesel generator revealed excessive turbocharger end-float and oil carry-over on the compressor side — a unit that had to be ready to start at any moment.

ResultBearings and seals renewed, rotor dynamically balanced and refitted. Unit returned to standby duty with a full condition report.

Gearbox Noise Diagnosed & Propulsion Re-Aligned

A fishing vessel arrived with vibration and whining from the reduction gearbox. Dismantling showed pitting on one gear pair; the shaft coupling was also found 0.18 mm out of alignment.

ResultGear pair replaced, gearbox rebuilt with new bearings, propulsion line laser-aligned to under 0.02 mm. Sea trial confirmed smooth running.
